For Adults This IN PERSON workshop for adults will take place on Saturday, February 5, from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST. Face masks required for all participants. This hands-on design workshop is hosted by MODA as part of The Welcome Blanket Project exhibition and is presented by Atlanta-based master quilter Marquetta Bell Johnson Over the course of this 3-hour workshop, participants will explore how to use creativity to make positive change in the world. First, we will learn about the history and legacy of quilting as a traditional Georgia art form from a master quilter, Marquetta Bell Johnson. Next, each participant will design, stitch, and embellish two four-by-four patch textile blocks. Participants will turn one block into a mini-quilt to take home to promote the art of quilting and preserve the legacy of a traditional Georgia art form. Makers will contribute their other block to a group quilt that will be exhibited at MODA and then donated to a local refugee family through the Welcome Blanket Project along with a letter wishing them a warm welcome to the community. No experience necessary. All materials and museum admission included. Tuition Cost per participant is $35 and includes all materials. Scholarships are available if cost is prohibitive. Please email email@example.com for information. Masks will be required throughout the event unless public health conditions and CDC guidelines change substantially.
What To Bring All materials will be provided. Face masks required for all participants.
