For Ages 8-17 This IN PERSON workshop for youth ages 8-17 will take place on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 9:30-11:30 AM EST. Face masks are required for all participants. This hands-on architectural design workshop is hosted by MODA and presented by Katya Kouznetsova and Dima Alekseev of the Contemporary Art & Architecture Lab (Start with Art: Art Studio). In this workshop, participants will: Learn about leading architects, influential artists, and designers of the 20th and 21st century Learn how to sketch and design like an architect Refine their understanding of sustainable design and architecture and its impact on citizens and the environment Discuss how to introduce nature back into our buildings Then, we will collaborate to create a prototype of a Futuristic Skyscraper from cardboard units. Each participant will leave the workshop with their own personally designed cardboard unit. No experience necessary. All materials and museum admission included. Accompanying caregivers are invited to enjoy our exhibition Survival Architecture or find a place to sit down and catch up on email or other things. Tuition Cost per participant is $35. Cancellation Policy: Registration for this design studio closes one hour before the studio begins. If the studio has less than three students registered, MODA reserves the right to cancel the studio, especially if it’s a studio that includes peer-to-peer collaboration. These studios are great ways for for friends to meet and learn together virtually! If we have to cancel, we will contact you at least 24 hours before the studio. Participants may cancel up to 5 business days in advance for a refund of 60% of the total cost or elect to donate their entire fee as a 100% tax deductible gift to the museum.
